Daywise Itinery

Day 01 – ARRIVE COLOMBO / DAMBULLA ( 150 kms / 4 hours )
Upon arrival at Colombo International airport, you will be met and transferred to Dambulla. Check in at the hotel. Later in the afternoon visit Dambulla cave temple. Located at an elevation of 1118 feet from the sea level rises a massive rock from the surrounding plains of Dambulla of 600 feet high and over 2000 feet in length. It is home to the World’s most acclaimed Cave complex of magnificent Buddha Images and Rock Paintings of vivid colours and shapes constructed and painted from around 2nd Century BC (Anuradhapura era ) and continued up to the Kandyan era of the 18th Century. Sinhalese people call it as ' Dambulu Gala' (Dambulla Rock) and the Temple is called as the ' Rangiri Dambulu Viharaya' (Golden Rock Dambulla Temple). Overnight at hotel.

This morning after breakfast, proceed for Sigiriya. Sigiriya is an archelological site in North Central Sri Lanka. It contains the ruins of an ancient palace complex, built during the reign of King Kasyapa (477AD - 495 AD). It is one of the 7 world heritage sites in Sri Lanka and is one of it's most popular tourist destinations. The Sigiriya site consists of a 180m tall granite rock, whose sides are so steep that at some points the top overhangs the base. At the top of the site there is a palace complex. The ruines of various chambers, stairways and pools can be seen at the top. There is a stone stairway leading from the base to the top of the mountain. About half way to the top, there is a pair giant pair of lions paws which is infact the ruin of a huge head of a lion whose open mouth served as the entrance to the royal palace. Day 03- DAMBULLA / MATALE / KANDY ( 110 Kms / 2 hours )
After breakfast, proceed for Kandy. Enroute visit Spice garden. Check in at hotel. Later in the evening visit Temple of tooth relic. The Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, the temple which houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of The Buddha, is possibly the most sacred Buddhist shrine in the world. It is venerated not only by Buddhists in Sri Lanka but by Buddhists all over the world. The Sri Dalada Maligawa or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a temple in the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the one of the two surviving relic of the tooth of Buddha, an object of veneration for Buddhists. The other tooth relic is believed to be enshrined in a stupa called Somawathi Chethiya. Enjoy Cultural programme in the evening and overnight at hotel.

Day 04 – KANDY – COLOMBO ( 115 kms / 3 hours )
This morning after breakfast, proceed for Colombo. Check in at the hotel. Afternoon , you will proceed for city & shopping tour of Colombo, where like many other capital cities in developing countries, you will see that Colombo is also fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet in some parts, the old world charm is retained with several British built colonial buildings. Other places of interest are a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall and the old parliament. Also visit House of Fashions, ODEL, Noritake ceramic shop & a local souvenir shop. Evening free at leisure and overnight at hotel.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and depart for airport to catch flight back home.
